WHITE ROSE PUB - LICENCE HEARING

As you may know, we have been fighting against the application by Associated Tower Cinemas for a full-on alcohol licence for the White Rose building (next to Yorkshire Bank). This company is the same one that runs the Arc. Local residents are clear that their quality of life has been severely affected since the Arc opened. We are appealing against the Magistrates' decision to allow this licence and are putting together a case to take to the Crown Court on 25th and 26th June, and we need people to attend and/or act as witnesses against this further degradation of our community. We also need your donation, however small, to our costs.

If you are interested in being a witness, please phone one of the numbers below to register your wish to be involved. We would also like to see supporters in court - it will help show the strength of public feeling!

Phone Lesley (2741011) or Rachel (2756652) for more information or offers of help.

Some of the concerns we have .... a typical evening in Headingley

A line of private hire vehicles illegally wait outside "The Arc" for drinkers to leave at closing time ...

... and there are more outside "The Skyrack" ...

... late night drinkers spill out of "The Oak" at closing time ...

... people are pushed along the pavement and out into the road ...

... and an accident is narrowly avoided.

Afterwards - bottles and smashed glass has been scattered over the pavements of Headingley ...
